ロンドン留学の雰囲気をつかむため、6/24～6/28の1週間、London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)のExecutive Summer School 2013を受講してきた。私が選択したコースは「Strategic Decision Making for Management」。
クラスの人数は30名で、1チーム5名の計6チームに座席が分けられていた。毎朝9:15から15:30までが講義で、16:00から17:30に各チームで決めたテーマを基にグループワークを行い、最終日に各チーム10分間でプレゼンをするスケジュール。
私のチームは以下のメンバー構成。参加者の多様性がわかる。
1. UAE（Abu Dhabi）から来た官公庁勤務（男性）
2. オランダから来た官公庁勤務（女性）
3. 米国（ハワイ）から来た新エネルギー会社の社長（男性）
4. ドイツから来た官公庁勤務（男性）
5. 私。日本から来たITコンサルティング会社勤務（男性）
グループワークのテーマは現在直面している問題や機会に対する決定分析を行うこと。私のチームでは「社員のモチベーションを上げるために、賞与をどのような基準で分配するのがよいか？」というテーマを設定した。
グループワークでは私の英語力が不十分であまり発言できなかったが、プレゼン用のパワーポイント資料を作る担当になることでチームに貢献した。計6スライドの簡単なプレゼン資料だったが、明確でわかりやすいとなかなか好評で最終日のプレゼン後に他チームの2人から資料を電子ファイルで欲しいと言われる程だった。
無料の茶菓が用意されている休憩時間、初日のランチ、木曜のディナー、最終日のセレモニーなど、他のコースの参加者とも交流できる機会も用意されていて、ネットワーキングの機会が工夫されていた。

I attended the Executive Summer School 2013 at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from June 24 to June 28 so as to taste the atmosphere to study in London. The course I took was "Strategic Decision Making for Management".
The class was comprised 30 people and divided evenly into 6 team. Every day, There are lectures from 9:15 to 15:30 and group work from 16:00 to 17:30. On the final day of the course, each team made a presentation for 10 minutes about the theme argued in group work.

The group work was a decision analysis for issues or opportunities which one of team members faced currently. My team decided the theme that how to allocate annual bonus based on what criteria in order to motivate employees.
In the group work, I could not speak out much because my command for English speaking was limited, but I contributed to make a PowerPoint document for presentation. Although the document was just 6 slides, it was well received because it was clear and concise. After the final day presentation, 2 people from other teams asked me to share the PowerPoint file.
Throughout the course, there are many opportunities for networking among participants including other course taker, such as break times with light refreshments, lunch on the first day, dinner on Thursday, and ceremony on the final day.
